Impeachment Movement Grows

As 2006 revs up and the elections look more and more grim for Republicans, the potential for a Democratic takeover of the house and senate is becoming a real possibility. Bush risks having REAL investigations of his misdeeds if this happens, as opposed to the farces that are going on now to appease the public.

Some Democrats aren't waiting for January 2007 to get started with impeachment proceedings, however. A little known law that allows state senators to impeach the president has been on the books. I learned about this a while ago when I added this blog to the Impeach Bush Coaltion. There, a proponent of impeachment mentioned the The Jefferson Manual of rules for the U.S. House of Representatives(see section SEC. LIII. -- IMPEACHMENT), which allows state legislatures to initiate impeachment proceedings by submitting charges to Congress.

Though I never thought anyone would actually use this little known rule, an Illinois senator, Karen A. Yarbrough, seems to have started a real snowball effect by putting forth bill HJR0125. On the heels of this, a bill has now been introduced in California. Others may soon follow, as there are rumbling about one in Vermont.

I have to admit, when I read Impeach Bush member Bulldog Manifesto's blog, I thought he was spewing into the ether. Three cheers for Bulldog!!! His dream is becoming reality.

  • You are anti-
american to use such language about your own president. Bush has done a good job and while it is OK to be critical, we must also be united as Americans. Your malicious message is aggressive and against our country. I don't hear any Solutions to our current problems, or alternatives but only blazing condemnations. The president has dedicated his life to us and we owe him more than your street rhetoric. Let's be supportive and come up with solutions. No matter Who is president, these problems facing our nation will not go away. At least he has had the courage to Try to address them. What are your solutions?

  • Wow-and I thought I was paranoid-this is in reference to the rather lengthy "bxc2739" manifesto. Though he has harped on my inner fears, I still need to see some proof. Anyway, it's great to see that some people feel the same way about Bush that I do. I had trouble publishing an imix on itunes called "Bush Really Sucks" even though they published my imix "Bush Sucks" two months prior. I had to change the name of "Bush Really Sucks" to "The Bush League" even though it had the same songs on it like Neil Young's "Let's Impeach the President" and Brighteyes' "When the President Talks to God." Hopefully the Amercian public will wake up and elect the democrats to both the House and the Senate with a majority in each. Then we can get down to impeaching this lying , smirking, fool.

  • Impeachment is out of the question, because the concept of impeachment implies that an election took place. By now we all know that there was never any "election" The shrub was SELECTED, and not by the people either, therefore we come to the "horrifying" conclusion that impeachment will not work, rather an overthrowing(gasp) must take place. As unpalatable as that may seem, it is the only real answer. Would you ask a burglar to please leave your house after he unlawfully broke into your home? The same principle applies here.

  • we are anti-american to suggest that the shrub is to be unquestioned? RUBBISH!! It is YOU who are anti-human to dare suggest that we just follow along because the shrub has our best interest at heart. Do you have anyone in YOUR family in Iraq? If not then get your ass to the front line, boy! If you do, then it serves you right, enjoy!
